Flexible Careers Scheme (FCS)
This page introduces the Flexible Careers Scheme.
The Flexible Careers Scheme
The Flexible Careers Scheme was developed as part of
the Improving Working Lives for Doctors initiative. The scheme helps
doctors maintain their careers by providing more centrally funded
opportunities to work part-time and have temporary career breaks. The
Flexible Careers Scheme funds doctors who are able to work up to 49% of
full time and in each case the scheme is adapted to individual
circumstances and provides sufficient medical/clinical practice for
revalidation purposes.
Strategic health authorities now manage and fund the scheme and they, along with
your employer should be able to advise you on flexible working and
related schemes.
For more information about the Flexible Careers Scheme, please contact
your local NHS strategic health authority (SHA) or deanery. Details of
SHAs can be found
here and deaneries on the
COPMED website
