Careers in the ambulance service

Ambulance services provide healthcare in emergency and non-emergency settings and there are a number of different careers available.

Emergency service roles

Staff working in emergency roles include emergency care assistants, paramedics and senior paramedics (sometimes known as emergency care practitioners). They are supported by staff based in control centres that include emergency call handlers and emergency medical dispatchers, who handle calls and decide the type of response that is required.
